Follow The Yellow Brick Road

As you may have noticed, Eve Radio has introduced a Premium Supporter service to help us secure a bigger, better and brighter future for everyone who listens in to Eve Radio and it's DJ's.
Through our Premium Supporter service, we offer a number of membership perks to improve the users listening experience and also helps us to start making progress to our long term goal of becoming fully self sufficient. On the way, we will do a variety of things with the revenue raised by these active subscriptions, including reducing our monthly donations requirements, adding a host of new features for standard and Premium users as well as upgrading our network infrastructure so we can begin doing some pretty god damn cool and interesting things.
Getting to that stage will be no easy feat and will likely take a long time. To help visualise our progress, we've introduced what we call, the Yellow Brick Road.
What is the Yellow Brick Road?
It's simple really. We, much like Dorothy and friends, are on a journey to the Emerald City. Except in this case QGazQ is Toto, Diaego is Dorothy and (as usual) I'm cast as the Wicked Witch of the West.
Not to worry, I'll get over it.
The Emerald City, or our mid to long term goal, is another name we are giving to becoming fully self sufficient. The journey there will be long and arduous so we've decided to break it down into 7 epic parts.
Each stage of this journey has a specific milestone we need to achieve in order to progress onwards. The first milestone, for example, will allow us to start reducing the amount we need to ask for in donations every month to keep Eve Radio broadcasting. Further Milestones will allow us to continue to do this as well as invest in our infrastructure so we can do even more impressive things, like upgrade our bandwidth availability or introduce high definition video streaming.
What's really cool about this is we haven't completely mapped out what we intend to do at each stage and as things move along we will start asking YOU, the Eve Radio listener what you want us to introduce along the way.
To help visualise our progress towards each milestone, we have enabled the Yellow Brick Road module on the front page of the website and a more definitive progression page that explains in more detail our progression and goals for each leg of the journey.
As you might expect, in order to progress along the yellow brick road, we need Eve Radio listeners to upgrade to Premium Supporter's. You can do this simply by hitting the Upgrade links below the YBR or from the menu item on the main toolbar.
And just so you know, every stage of our progression towards the Emerald City will introduce something beneficial not just to Premium Supporters but regular listeners as well. We are doing this to enhance the experience of EVERYONE in our community. You won't need to be a Premium Supporter to enjoy Eve Radio as the existing free service will not change. However, a Premium Supporter will have access to more advanced versions of all introduced features to compensate them for their ongoing faith and support by picking up a paid subscription.
As I have said elsewhere, Eve Radio still requires donations in order to stay afloat each and every month. We hope through the Premium Supporter service we can rapidly reduce these requirements while still managing to add improvements that will benefit our entire community. For the time being, we are still in need of regular donations as the Premium Supporter service is NOT a replacement for donations. Someday soon we hope it will be, but until then all we can do is hope we can get enough active subscriptions per month to start whittling down how much we need to ask for.
