Pirates Invade Nashville for MMO EVE ONLINE Conference

VETO Summer Camp 2011

Funkybacon and Meatballs!

Nashville, TN – August 12-14, 2011 EVE Online Corporation [guild] VETO will be hosting a player run and organized event.  This event covers topics related to the massively multiplayer online game EVE Online, including its technical back-story and live “fire” trainingof player pilots.

VETO Summer Camp 2011 is an opportunity for players to meet each other outside the game and spend time with 8-12 game developers from CCP including Game Masters and Content Writers.

VETO Summer Camp 2011 will kick off with a downtown pub crawl covering many of Nashville’s historic stages and dives on Friday, August 12th.  Saturday will include a combination of player run presentations and talks by CCP, as well as a development brainstorming session where players will be organized into small working groups to develop game play ideas or modifications.

These ideas will be presented to CCP developers.  Saturday night will conclude with live game play run by a VETO fleet commander and will encompass several areas of player vs. player game play.

VETO Summer Camp 2011 will be held at Millennium Maxwell House Hotel, Nashville TN.

Interested parties are encouraged to stay at the hotel using the group code 1108EVEONL for a discounted rate.  Tickets to the event can be purchased for $55 from the event website and quantities are limited by conference space to 125 people.

VETO has been an integral part of the EVE Online universe for nearly six years.  As a player run corporation VETO’s focus has been on player vs. player combat such as piracy, ransoms, extortion and other forms of role play-based gaming.  VETO has gained a reputation for hosting parties and events drawing hundreds of people from around the world in places like London, and at CCP’s own Fan Fest in Iceland.

EVE Online is a persistent single server universe developed and run by Icelandic game company CCP.  EVE Online is a sandbox space simulator that encourages players to write their own story and create their own game play through hyper capitalism, war, and espionage. The result of which is one of the most dedicated subscription bases found in modern MMOs that leads to lifelong friendships and animosity across oceans.

Live broadcast of the event will be provided by EVE-Radio hosted by DJ FunkyBacon and LarkinAlpha.  More information on EVE-Radio can be found at

Prizes and promotional assistance is being provided by BattleClinic.  BattleClinic has been a strong supporter of the EVE Online community for years and can be found online at

Let's face it folks, this is going to be awesome.

Not just because you get to hang out with Veto and a few Eve Online devs but because you will also get to shake hands with Funkybacon and LarkinAlpha. Failing that, chances are you will be able to take some compromising photos you can use to blackmail them with later on.

Bottom line, if you're anywhere near Nashville this August theres absolutely no excuse for not going along. Prices are reasonable, company is great and you'll come away with many positive memories as well as the knowledge that you are part of MMO gamings greatest ever community.

Internet spaceships is serious business. So is Summer camp '11.
