Service Switch over Completed

Eve Radio News

... mostly.

I'll be honest, it's not as finished as we would have liked but the functionality is all there in the back end, beavering away and not causing any major fires for a change.

QGazQ has been a busy bee over the last few days finishing off the complicated stuff and tonight has bolted it all together so we could meet our launch target for the new expanded Eve Radio schedule.

You'll note the schedule looks a little different from usual. This is because it's vastly more complicated than the old one even though it currently looks like a bleached turd. THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND WILL BE UPDATED TO IT'S FORMER GRAPHICAL GORY (Intended pun spelling Nazi's) WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

You will have also noticed the new look Eve Radio player.

A while ago I made a mock up of a very sexy looking and sophisticated alternative to our current player that would demonstrate the multi channel goodness of the New Look Eve Radio. Unfortunately the dog at it so a couple of hours ago I quickly mocked this visually impressive remake up and ordered Gaz to follow it exactly.

He did alright considering he only had 2 hours before we launched, so lets not quibbly about it looking a bit busy right now because THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND WILL BE UPDATED TO IT'S FORMER GRAPHICAL GORY (I did it again, Nazi's) WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

Remember, keys word here are work in progress.

We understand that many of you will be insanely confused by what you are now seeing. Let me see if I can talk you through some of it.

Most obvious are the channel buttons on the right hand side of the player. Top to bottom they display the Smart links for each channel, then the stand alone link for that channel.

Taking PRIME as an example, the smart PRIME link will automatically connect you to and follow PRIME DJ's as they appear on the schedule. They will automatically default to any live PRIME shows on the schedule but will seek ANY live DJ when none are available with a weighted prefrence to either Dance, Rock or Talk. Should there be two or more DJ's on at the same time as a PRIME show is running, it will always default to the live PRIME show.

The non smart Prime will stick with the PRIME channel regardless of whoever else is on, sticking with the current (if available) PRIME show or jukebox.

The same applies with all the other channels, with preferences biased in favour of the genre you have selected.

On the right of the player you will see a familiar sight. namely, the current on aiur DJ's mug (for the channel selected) and the usual start, stop and jukebox selection buttons. It even displays whether the stream you are tuned into is HQ enabled and where available, an experimental external HQ stream link. Good eh?

The middle currently displays whats currently on air right at the top and shows you - like usual - who's scheduled next on the current channel. Switch to a different channel and it will display who's up now and who's up next again. Look below and you can see who's on air and coming up next on ALL of the available channels.

I know, it looks a little untidy. It's a work in progress. Don't make me be all bold in your faces again.

Anyway, that's the basics. The real science behind it I will leave to Gaz to explain in detail when he stops shaking and get's some sleep.

For now, I will leave you with THIS.

Just for the record, this is not me. I wasn't on telly despite what Dj Sam claims. This could be me in 5 more years and 40 more lbs but it is 100% categorically not me.

Stay classy.
