Saturday EVE RADIO Mining Fundraiser Event Details!

Eve Radio News

While the majority of you already know the details, here is a quick summary of what, where and when along with some sage advice from event organizers DJ Accy and Yumene.

To start, the mining operation to help enrich Eve Radio's wallet for our 100 billion ISK giveaway spectacular will be taking place in the AKES system (Devoid region, Amarr Space) immediately following downtime on Saturday 18th January and running until downtime on Sunday 19th January.

As downtime on Saturday finishes, Accy gets started.

He will take the first 8 hour shift with full Orca boosts and will be leading the mining fleet and managing all event logistics. To join the mining fleet all you will need to do is X up in the Eve Radio ingame channel or wave like a lunatic in local. Once joined, Accy will relay instructions via the fleet channel until his shift ends at 19:00 gmt and Yumene takes over.

It has been suggested that pilots joining this operation should bring along Procurers (nice and tanky) or, if they are a little unfamiliar with mining they can be provided with a shiny little venture to mine with. The skills required to pilot this little gem take about an hour to train so it won't interupt your normal training for very long.

As always, participants are responsible for their own ships and pods and should not fly anything they can't afford to replace. Make sure all clones (preferably without implants) are upto date and ships insured against wanton acts of douch baggery.

While we are not expecting any major efforts to interfere and disrupt our mining operations there are no doubt some who think it would be awesome to suicide gank a few carebear listeners. The best defense against these types is keeping your wits about you. Spikes on local are always a cause for concern, as are random types lurking about near your jet can / secure container. Try and keep yourself aligned for rapid warp to station and set yourself to automatically ignore duel offers. Basic, common sense stuff, really. If you're a seasoned miner you know what to look out for. Try and assist a noobie if they seem unsure.

Not interested in mining but want to help out? Fit out a cheap, disposable but armed ship to fend off any npc rats and protect our troops while having a blast.

Here's some fitting suggestions :-

While the event is progressing we will be giving out spot prizes and keeping you updated in the Eve Radio channel as well as on air. We will also be streaming the event on our Twitch TV channel at various times of the day so those that can't participate can see what's going on. Be sure to be on the looking for a variety of Eve Radio personalities who will be stopping by and grabbing a mining laser throughout the 23 hour period.

Want to help out with the fundraising event but can't participate this time? Fear not, we'll be running similar events in the near future (Mission Running Marathon will be scheduled in the next week or two) or you can just make a donation to the Eve Radio Corporation direct (CEO MrBlades - just to be sure you're not giving your ISK away to a scammer) or buy an ETC through Eve Host (which benefits us directly), sell the PLEX and then give the money to us! So many ways to help us reach our goal of 100 billion ISK so we can give it back out to you in a spectacular interactive event in the spring.

Finally, whatever goes down, however many attend, regardless of any difficulties, fuck up's or all out disasters the primary goal here is to have fun as a community in a way we haven't shared in a long, long time. We hope to learn a lot from you guys during the course of this event so we can get one step closer to plugging the holes and filling up the cracks that have sprung up over the last couple of years at Eve Radio. Events like these can only work with your participation and support but we are always on the lookout for new ideas and open to suggestions for more stuff we can do to get to know our community a little better. Feel free to share.

We're all really looking forward to this first proper community event we've run in last couple of years. Thank you in advance for your support and contributions. Seeya on Saturday!

Both Yumene and I are redonkulously excited about this prospect - looking forward to the ER family coming together for a good giggle. There's a Hulk and an Orca up for grabs - the longer you mine the more chance to win!

Thank you to all of those who have donated so far. Brad314, The Rev and Okaras rule to mention the 3 biggest contributors of many. As ever, keep those donations coming in - we will return the favour with love and gratitude!

I will turn up with my orca for additional boosting and setting up of a secondary fleet should we need one. I will also see if I can bring my fleet of macks so that's potentially 6 macks + a perfect orca booster with mind link. Anyone who wants to join my boost will be welcome between downtime Saturday onwards until 2200 eve time.
