Farewell To BigCountry

Eve Radio News

Former Eve Radio DJ BigCountry, famous for his special brand of no holds barred Eve Online talk radio and friend to many died yesterday aged 37 leaving his wife Megan and two young children.

The news broke via long time friend and co host of the Open Comms Show Dirk MacGirk with an article on the Imperium News website and is now spreading throughout Eve Online media sites.

Here at Eve Radio we are all in a bit of shock at the news. Many of us who knew BC well during his years as an Eve Radio DJ will remember his warm, boisterous personality, giant beard covered face and penchant for getting us into trouble with CCP. We remember the outrageous arguments, the fascinating and in depth dissections of the Eve Online meta game and the drunken shenanigans that would nearly always result in me getting complaint emails the following morning.

He was a good guy.

Right now we're all a bit too numb to adequately put to words our thoughts and concise memories of the man, so we'll leave that for another day and for the people who knew him the best. For now we just want to make people aware of a GoFundMe Donations Page setup by Dirk for Megan and the Kids to help in some small way make the loss easier to manage and endure.

If you have ever listened to a DJ BigCountry radio show or watched him and the gang on Twitch, we would appreciate you taking a moment to check the page out and maybe leave a donation.

Thank you for reading.

With a heavy heart I have read the announcement about late Jeff “BigCountry” Waltman.

My deep felt condolences goes to his family and to everybody who has BC in his heart.

He shall be sorely missed.

My thoughts and sincere condolences go to his wife and family at this time of loss.

Although I never met him personally and knew him only for a couple of years as one of the most outrageous DJs in EVE Radio, I can say as a fan and without a doubt that BigCountry was larger than life and the last person I would have expected to be gone so young.

May he find peace and a cushy DJ position beyond the pearly gates...

I'm pretty much shattered to hear this. I'll post something a bit later once I've had a chance to digest this awful news.
